Students and teachers in North West NSW, experienced the magical sounds of woodwind instruments in their school during 2017 when Musica Viva In Schools ensemble, Arcadia Winds toured the region. This ensemble of virtuoso musicians uses the clarinet, bassoon and flute to demonstrate to students how they can use their breath and bodies to make musical instruments vibrate and come alive.
Neriah, a primary school student from Moree, was so thrilled at the experience that she wrote to Arcadia Winds to share in her excitement:
I liked how you played the flute and now you inspired me to learn about the history of the flute and to play it. I have even started a band. I am not quite sure of the name yet. But here I go. Our band’s name is Stupidity Rocks! But I want to play the flute and sing too. The band has Jordan, Lochy, Zander and my bestie Lucy. You have inspired me and my band a lot. Sincerely. Neriah”
