Brass Brings Farming Community Together

Best of Brass perform community outreach work at the Nelia Country Women's Association.

Thanks to generous lead funding from the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation, in November last year Musica Viva was able to tour Brisbane ensemble Best of Brass (BoB) throughout central and western Queensland, travelling more than 3000kms.

As well as performing for hundreds of school children, BoB did extensive community outreach work including a performance at the Nelia Country Women’s Association Hall, some 20 hours’ drive from Brisbane. In a region feeling the strain of the ongoing drought, the performance brought the farming community together on Wednesday 1 November for an evening that showcased the joy of live music.

The president of the Nelia CWA wrote to us following the performance, saying “thank you for including our small, rural hall as a stop on your Best of Brass tour. Music is a special gift that was gratefully received by the community of the Nelia CWA.”

Please help us transform more children's lives through music, by supporting Musica Viva in your state.
