2018 international concert season
Experience a terrific celebration of the violin in all its moods with Ray Chen. Born in Taiwan and raised in Brisbane, he moved to the USA in his teens to pursue intensive violin studies. Since then, Ray’s appearances as a soloist with great orchestras around the world have carved his niche as a heart-stopping virtuoso.
On his return to Australia, Ray is joined by his regular playing partner, acclaimed French pianist Julien Quentin. A versatile and sensitive musician, Julien’s musicianship is the perfect accompaniment to Ray’s heartfelt artistry and jaw-dropping violin pyrotechnics.
Ray’s assured playing is on show as he tackles works by Beethoven, Grieg and Ravel, and free to create a work with no technical limitations, composer Matthew Hindson’s world premiere is sure to be an exciting spectacle.
