Janette Hamilton Studio
Musica Viva Australia was able to invest in the Janette Hamilton Studio thanks to a generous bequest from longterm subscriber Janette Hamilton.
Musica Viva Australia's Janette Hamilton Studio is an acoustically isolated rehearsal, recording and workshop studio located within Musica Viva Australia, Sydney.
It is a 60 sq.m. (9x6.5m) "box within a box", and the studio space features a wooden floor, high ceilings and no windows, as well as acoustic panelling on the walls and hung from the ceiling. The space is fully airconditioned and has flexible studio lighting. Acoustic curtains on tracks run along three sides of the studio and can be moved as required.
Hire of the studio includes use of the Steinway grand piano, chairs, and large kitchen facilities. A floor plan is available. Rates of hire (by the hour, half day, or day) vary according to a sliding scale.

Please note that due to our Occupational Certificate in this residential area, the Janette Hamilton Studio cannot be used as a performance space to which tickets can be sold.

The piano in the studio is a Steinway & Sons Grand Piano B-211 (length 212cm), regularly maintained by Theme & Variations Piano Services. This also includes an adjustable padded professional concert bench.
Please note that it is not possible to remove the piano from the space, however it can be repositioned.
The Janette Hamilton Studio is situated within Musica Viva Australia House at 757 Elizabeth St, Zetland NSW 2017. There is an undercover carpark, loading dock and lift. When parking in the carpark it is a flat lug from the car or loading dock into the Janette Hamilton Studio.
Limited (2 spaces) in house parking is available by arrangement. 2 hour non-meter parking is always available outside.
The Janette Hamilton Studio provides an ideal environment to record both the audio and visual components of an ensemble. Audio engineers are welcome to bring in their own equipment.
It is important to note Musica Viva Australia does not provide an audio engineer.
The Janette Hamilton Studio provides a flexible space for your requirements. If you would like to enquire about using the studio in ways other than listed below, please be in touch.

Prices are based on a tiered scale according to hirer income.
Individual/Personal Use : $36 per hour, $275 for hires 8 hours and longer
Small to medium organisations
Tier 1 : turnover of less than $500k pa ($40per hour, $300 for hires 8 hours and longer)
Tier 2 : turnover between $500k pa and $1m pa ($60 per hour, $450 for hires 8 hours and longer)
Tier 3: turnover more than $1m pa ($78per hour, $600for hires 8 hours and longer)
Commercial company hire rate to be discussed.
Outside of business hours (including weekends) - additional $44 ph on the above rates
