It is with great regret that Musica Viva announces the cancellation of next month’s tour with Piers Lane and the Goldner String Quartet, which was set to visit seven Australian cities from 4-23 April.
‘Our primary concern is always for the wellbeing of our patrons, artists and staff,’ says Musica Viva CEO Hywel Sims. ‘We’re following government advice closely and have made the difficult decision to cancel a tour with our close friends Piers Lane and the Goldner String Quartet.’
‘We have also postponed Tuesday’s Melbourne Morning Masters concert and our Musica Viva In Schools activities for the rest of Term 1.’
‘This situation has profound implications for the whole performing arts sector,’ Sims adds. ‘If you’re in a position to continue supporting musicians, I urge you to consider doing so. We are working to find ways to minimise the impact on our artists, many of whom rely on income from our schools and concert tours.’
‘In the coming days, we’ll be discussing ways to continue providing music to the Australian community. Please continue to visit our website for updates.

Ticket holders will be contacted directly by Musica Viva Patron Services with information on exchanges and refunds.
