INTERNATIONAL CONCERT SEASON 2017 - MASTERCLASS


German-French cellist Nicolas Altstaedt is renowned worldwide for his creativity and versatility, in his captivating performances of repertoire on both modern and gut strings.

Awarded the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award in 2010, he performed the Schumann concerto in a highly acclaimed debut with the Vienna Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel at the Lucerne Festival. Since then he has performed regularly with leading orchestras worldwide such as the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, Japan Century Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic, Finnish Radio Symphony, Melbourne- and New Zealand Symphony Orchestras working with conductors Vladimir Ashkenazy, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Roger Norrington, Andrey Boreyko, Thomas Hengelbrock, Thomas Dausgaard, Krzysztof Urbanski, Lahav Shani, Juraj Valcuha, David Robertson, Andrew Manze, Emmanuel Krivine, Sir Andrew Davis, Gustavo Gimeno, Dima Slobodeniouk, Vladimir Fedosseyev, Fabien Gabel, Giovanni Antonini and Andrea Marcon amongst many others.

In this masterclass, Nicolas will share his extensive knowledge with talented young musicians, providing them with valuable techniques to improve their craft.

Each Masterclass is conducted by an international touring artist and offers a unique perspective on music interpretation, technique and performance. The masterclass program provides students, music teachers and audiences of all ages with an entertaining and enriching learning experience.
