Masterclass with Giocoso String Quartet

21 Apr 2018

The Giocoso String Quartet were winners of the Musica Viva and Audience prizes at the 2015 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, where their zesty, characterful playing stood out in a crowded field. Since then, the group - based in Berlin - has steadily built a reputation through performances across Europe and more recently into Asia, including Tokyo and Seoul.

In this Masterclass, Giocoso String Quartet cellist, Bas Jongen, will work with students on their approach to performance and music interpretation.

Attend a Musica Viva Masterclass and witness talented young music students being mentored by the world's finest chamber musicians. Each Masterclass is conducted by an international touring artist and offers a unique perspective on music interpretation, technique and performance. The masterclass program provides students, music teachers and audiences of all ages with an entertaining and enriching learning experience.

Musica Viva's Masterclass program is supported by principal patrons Stephen Johns & Michele Bender, the Sydney Conservatorium Association (NSW), Lyn Hamill & Ian Dover (Queensland), Wesfarmers Arts (Western Australia), Anonymous Donor (South Australia), and the late Mary Turner OAM (Newcastle).
