Important Concert Update
It is with great regret that Musica Viva announces the cancellation of the Goldmund Quartet.
‘Our primary concern is always for the wellbeing of our patrons, artists and staff,’ says Musica Viva CEO Hywel Sims. ‘We’re following government advice closely and have made the difficult decision to cancel this tour.’
You will have an opportunity to receive a refund for your tickets, exchange them for a later performance or donate their value to Musica Viva. We thank you for your understanding and look forward to welcoming you to a concert again soon.

Goldmund Quartet
For 75 years Musica Viva has kept Australian audiences up to date with the wider world of classical music, and 2020 is no exception. Germany’s youthful Goldmund Quartet began their career in stellar fashion, winning prizes at major events including the 2018 Wigmore Hall Competition and the 2018 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, and bursting onto the concert scene
with a jam-packed schedule of performances across Europe and, more recently, in Asia and North America. This is a marriage of old-school talent – and musical dedication of the highest order – with a more relaxed, modern-day vibe. No penguin suits here...
For their debut Australian tour, the Goldmunds offer some of the great masterpieces of the string quartet canon: Haydn and Schubert in Program 1 and Mozart, Debussy and Mendelssohn in Program 2, set alongside a brand-new work, written for this tour by rising Australian composer Elizabeth Younan. The young guns show their credentials in heartland repertoire which demonstrates the fresh interpretations, irresistible energy and distinctive, characterful playing that brought them such early success – and equally celebrate the music of our own time.
