Make your own rainstick - instructional video

Watch the video above for a demonstration of how to make your own rainstick.

Make your own rainstick! This accessible activity provides step by step instructions for students to make their own instrument - a rainstick - which they can then use to create their own original music and soundtracks.

Encourage students to use recycled materials where possible. Rice is just one suggestion - sand, small beads or other small beans etc can also be used for the inside. Paper and images can be cut from old magazines, newspapers or packaging and repurposed for decorating the rainstick. A great rainy day activity (so to speak!).

Stay tuned for Part 2 - creating music with your rainstick.
