B’Tutta are a nationally renowned percussion ensemble with inspirations as diverse as Brazilian Samba and the vibe of Tokyo subways. Come and be introduced to a wide range of percussive instruments, and join in the fun of making music with this dynamic band. Suitable for all ages.

On Family Fun Day you will be able to attend activities, workshops and pop-up concerts, all for FREE, between the hours of 11am and 3pm. Here is a sneak peak of the exciting things happening:
Teranga
When: 12 noon–12:30pm, and 1.30pm–2pm

Teranga’s West African percussion-based music is infectious, vibrant and lively. They’ll be popping up throughout the day to get us on our feet with their cool grooves and dance moves.

A Second Time Round

Create your very own musical instrument using recycled materials. Let your imagination run wild as you explore the sounds made by different everyday materials as you repurpose them into a percussive instrument.
An Older Kind of Magic
When: 11am–3pm
Where: The Atrium Hallway
Investigate found sounds in a DIY interactive percussion sculpture & installation environment. Select an object to add your own sound & rhythm to this orchestral junk assemblage.
Try an Instrument with Benedict G. Puglisi
When: 11am–2pm
Where: Recital Hall East
Learn all about double basses, from the materials used to make them, to the finished instrument. Have the chance to get up close and have a go, or try your hand at carving the wood used to make a double bass during one of Instrument Maker, Benedict G. Puglisi’s demonstrations. Double bass making demonstrations at 12:30–1pm & 1:30–2pm.
Singing and Craft Workshops with Musica Viva In Schools

Come and join the fun with Musica Viva In Schools. Learn a song together at singing workshops and get crafty and explore what music means to you.

Theme and Variations Deconstructed Grand
