About the 2019 Series

Sydney Chamber Choir

Join us in 2019 for inspiring performances, great company, tea, coffee and cake on five Wednesday mornings throughout the year.

Sydney’s Coffee Concert season reaches new heights in 2019 with a sparkling new venue featuring a great acoustic, enhanced facilities and easier transport options. But the refreshments remain the best in town and the performers and repertoire will again be a cavalcade of diverse brilliance.

The year starts with energy and élan in the accomplished hands of virtuoso harpist Alice Giles, plucking from thin air a beautiful program of Britten, Debussy and Salzedo. On sabbatical from her burgeoning career in Finland, Australian pianist Aura Go keeps the joy rolling in a classic program of Bach, Beethoven and Debussy.

The Sydney Symphony Orchestra boasts some of the finest musicians in the country and we proudly present three principal players, Andrew HaveronTobias Breider and Umberto Clerici, in a program of quintessential string trios by Beethoven and Dohnányi.

Vocal music has been noticeably absent from our recent Coffee Concert seasons, a situation to be rectified in full by the Sydney Chamber Choir in a program of magnificent English choral music spanning four centuries. And, as usual, the peerless Goldner String Quartet is reserved a special place in the series, this time presenting Rachmaninoff’s brief, wistful first quartet alongside Beethoven’s wonderful first Razumovsky Quartet.

Sydney’s Coffee Concerts for 2019 are a glittering showcase of superlative performance and consummate content. A perfect way to indulge both your senses and your spirit.
