Typically performing a cappella (unaccompanied) with one singer per part, The Consort of Melbourne champions both historic and contemporary repertoire, bringing 1,000 years of vocal music to life with an intimacy and verve that leaves audiences spellbound. The group’s programs include celebrated masterpieces alongside lesser-known gems, exploring the full expressive potential of human voices combined.

Under the artistic direction of Steven Hodgson, the Consort has presented regular concert series at the Melbourne Recital Centre since 2008 and has been invited to collaborate with groups such as the Rolling Stones, Spiritualized, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Australian Youth Orchestra. In 2017, The Consort of Melbourne appeared alongside British ‘space-rock’ band Spiritualized for Arts Centre Melbourne’s Supersense festival, and with drag legend Taylor Mac for 'A 24-decade history of popular music', the headline act for the Melbourne Festival.
