A school holiday treat for children of all ages to immerse themselves in the joy of ensemble music. Spend the day alongside our resident musicians, have the chance to try an instrument, talk to musicians and composers, explore musical interactive books and more. These activities are FREE!

Musica Viva Kids Holiday Program

19 – 21 April 2017 (3 day intensive)
9am - 3.30pm
Ages: 8 to 12
(No music experience required)

This exciting 3 day holiday program is presented by the talented musicians and educators, Doctor Stovepipe. This highly accomplished trio of bass, guitar, and fiddle will share their love of Appalachian folk tunes, popular rag time and Bluegrass music.

Over 3 days, children will engage in a range of small group activities including instrumental music, song-writing, storytelling, singing and improvisation as well as fun group activities that investigates how music changes over time. This will all culminate in a final performance for family and friends on the last day of the workshop where children will showcase what they have learnt.

Family Concert

Suitable for all ages – Come with your family

Doctor Stovepipe is the newest member of Musica Viva’s family of fantastic musicians and will join the Festival for a special concert for you and your family that will introduce you to the joys of small ensemble music. Doctor Stovepipe is sure to delight with their healthy dose of ragtime, swing, old timey and hokum blues.
