Eight years ago, during September and October 2000, the first Café Carnivale concerts were staged at Eastside Arts in Paddington. The aim of this pilot program was to promote the music of local artists from Non English Speaking backgrounds. The concerts proved to be incredibly popular, demonstrating the need for such a program to continue.

Now, in 2008, Café Carnivale lives on, with a second season of inspiring music from around the world, presenting a few old friends along with some surprises. We had a great first season with many sold out concerts and it is extremely gratifying to know that our programming and atmosphere is so appealing to audiences.

We have 33 concerts from July to December with music from Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Gypsy sounds of Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean region - and a special intermational act in unique collaboration. Sydney keeps on feeding us with the rich culture that migrants bring to this country, particularly their music.

We thank Arts NSW for its ongoing support, enabling us to present another vibrant program of live world music performed by the musical treasures living right here in this wonderfully diverse city.

This year we will continue our relationship with Eastside Music Café and following the great success of last year's series in Belrose, return to Glen Street Theatre. 2008 also sees Café Carnivale presenting concerts at Riverside Theatres: Parramatta, taking our unique program to even wider audiences. Details of the next three concerts coming up can be found below. Otherwise click here to view a full program of the remaining concerts in the season.
