Musica Vivas national volunteer program

Since Musica Viva was founded in 1945, volunteers have played an integral role in ensuring Musica Viva presents concerts of the highest possible standard. Musica Viva Australia existed in its first few years as a result of the energy and interests of mainly European refugees who sought to keep their cultural interests alive and see them flourish in their new country.

We are extremely grateful to our volunteers. We recognise the dedication and time spent in roles on committees, administration and providing specialty services.

Musica Viva also welcomes students and interns seeking industry experience.

Volunteers assist in the following types of activities:

  • work in committees supporting local activities
  • front of house and backstage organisation
  • caring for visiting artists
  • hosting receptions for artists and subscribers
(the offices in Hobart and Newcastle are run on a part-time basis by volunteers!)

In the national office in Sydney

  • regular weekly support in artistic, operations and planning
  • regular weekly support in marketing, external relations and fundraising
(including: cataloguing, archiving, post-concert administration, and data entry)

Some volunteers commit to one day per week and others prefer to be on call for extra assistance with such jobs as mail-outs, collating or audience surveys.

If you would like to join us, Musica Viva would love to hear of your interest in our national volunteer program. You will join over 100 volunteers regularly assisting Musica Viva across the country.

Please contact Cassandra Knox or complete this form and we will get back to you.
