BHP Billiton and Musica Viva

For 23 years, BHP Billiton and Musica Viva have been working together to take live music to regional Australia. In a dynamic partnership that brings together dozens of Australia’s top musicians, hundreds of BHP Billiton staff at all levels, and more than 22,000 people in regional communities each year, the relationship between the two companies has grown and developed into a wide-ranging partnership of mutual benefit and exchange.

Every year, Musica Viva visits BHP sites on its ‘Across the Top’ tour of northern Australia.  Family concerts have been presented in remote townships including BHP’s Mt Newman mine in WA and Cannington in QLD.  As well as supporting the CountryWide touring program, BHP Billiton uses tickets to Musica Viva’s National Concert Series in cities across Australia for its staff and high-level entertaining.

In 2005, BHP Billiton and Musica Viva were finalists for AbaF’s Bytecraft Commitment Award.  The Award recognises partnerships developed over a continuous period of at least 10 years.

Sun Microsystems and Musica Viva

Sun Microsystems is a global leader in Network Computing, as well as a global supplier of information technology.  It operates in no less than 32 countries on six continents.

Sun became Musica Viva’s first-ever Principal Sponsor in 1998 after a long history of sponsoring national tours.  Sun Microsystems made the decision to move to this major level of support by recognising that Musica Viva provided Sun Microsystems with access to people who are influential in IT-related company purchasing decisions.

Over the course of the 15-years partnership Sun utilised Musica Viva artists for sales conferences and other key events.  They commissioned new works from Australian composers to celebrate milestone occasions within their own company, and undertook special branding and merchandising activities with Musica Viva.  By the end of the sponsorship, 85% of audiences could recall Sun Microsystems as the Principal Sponsor of Musica Viva.

Sun reported steady growth of its reputation for exceptional client service, and its standing in the community as a supporter of Musica Viva’s operations was enhanced.

In 2003, Sun Microsystems and Musica Viva won the Australian Business Arts Foundation (AbaF) Award for Business Arts Partnership of the Year.

Rymill Coonawarra and Musica Viva

Rymill Coonawarra began its relationship with Musica Viva as sponsors of the Ménage concert series.  In 2007 Rymill Coonawarra expanded this support to become Musica Viva’s National Wine sponsor.  Rymill Coonawarra’s objective for the partnership was to increase the brand awareness of their wines nationally through its exclusive use at Musica Viva’s series of premium events.

Musica Viva ensures that Rymill Coonawarra wines are an integral part of every special event the company undertakes.  This allows Rymill Coonawarra direct access to the diverse and varied audience segments that Musica Viva attracts across its many programs.

As a result of the partnership, Rymill Coonawarra has increased its newsletter circulation and web site traffic, measured an increase in profile and direct sales relating to Musica Viva activity and launched several new cellar release wines to a receptive audience.

In 2007, the partnership received a Good Partnering Award from the Australian Business Arts Foundation. The Good Practice Award is designed to recognize partnerships and giving programs of proven quality.
