MELBOURNE: Metaphysical is a melancholic meditation of music and poetry and a unique collaboration between one of Australia’s most loved actors, Charles ‘Bud’ Tingwell and its finest lutenists, Rosemary Hodgson. Inspired by English poets from the beginning of the seventeenth century, Metaphysical features some of the greatest poems of Donne, Johnson and Vaughan, who sought to explore the spiritual nature of life and describe our ‘inner’ worlds in words. This new, contemplative style was also reflected in the music of the time, by composers including Dowland, Johnson and their Continental colleagues. 10am, Tuesday 27 October 2009
